Frequently Asked Questions
Are you a real person?
Yes. I swear I am. I was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, to two very normal Malaysian parents who moved there for a better life and worse weather. I now live in Melbourne, Australia where I practice as a full-time Intensive Care (ICU) Physician.
No really, are you a real person?
Yes, goddamnit.
What inspired you to create this monstrosity?
I worked in a public library as a kid where I developed an unhealthy relationship with pulp novels, then went on to spend most of my waking hours watching everything that came out in theatres. The 90’s were truly the golden age of cinema as far as I am concerned, and had a huge impact on who I am and why I write.
Why are you into all this Medical and Forensic shit?
I studied Forensic Biology in Toronto in Canada in 1999 during the CSI boom, with plans on being the world’s greatest Forensic Pathologist. I went on to study medicine at the University of Sydney in Australia. I started specialist training in Pathology before realizing that no one was laughing at my jokes, and changed specialities to Critical Care (ICU) Medicine. No one laughs at my jokes now either, but at least I know now that it’s the material and not the audience.
My friend is a registered nurse and says it would never happen like this in the hospital.
Your friend is right. Your friend is also a killjoy. Liam Neeson could also never have used his special skills to rescue a kidnapped Maggie Grace either, and no one’s life has ever been saved by Zach Braff.
Is this book any good?
I tend to think so. Read it and let me know what you think.
